Puls Biznesu

The candidate at a glance

Social media are a mine of knowledge about us. That is why head-hunters are eager to look at them. What can they see there and what conclusions can they draw? These questions are being answered by Monika Ciesielska in an interview with Dorota Czerwińska for Puls Biznesu.

Dorota Czerwińska: How to take care of your image in social media? How to get recruiters interested in yourself?

Monika Ciesielska: I recommend speaking on industry forums and presenting yourself as an expert in a given field. But you have to do it wisely. If we appear very often on many portals, it may mean that we are only doing this and not our job. The second thing is a well-prepared professional profile, which should include not only the names of the positions, but also the duties assigned to them. LinkedIn gives you the ability to search for people by keywords. Therefore, the better we introduce ourselves, the easier it will be to find us.

Dorota Czerwińska: Does the head hunter look at candidates on social media?

Monika Ciesielska: We do it at the stage of the so-called Short List when we prepare 3-4 selected candidates to be presented to the client. Managers are very knowledgeable and know how to best present themselves at an interview, and we have to be sure that we present the right candidate to the company. In social media, we look at his statements – are they balanced, and competent, are the candidates able to control their emotions, do not have communication problems, do they have the courage to talk about difficult topics and how they do it. Does he express himself on topics related to his profession, the industry in which he works, or is he an expert in his field? This is additional information, but valuable.
